Honesty is best, don't paper over the cracks. By Vanessa Spick

Looking out of the window and seeing a thick covering of snow over the garden, everything looks so beautiful. But that is it. It looks beautiful but it hides all the debris, dead plants and pot holes. They are still are and will be there when the snow melts.

Life can be like this too. You paper over the cracks and pretend everything is alright. But it is not.

However, seeing how it can look gives you an opportunity to see a brighter future. This is important as we all need to be motivated.

This needs to be taken one step further and an action plan made so you can get the scenario you dreamed of for real. You know where you want to go so be brutally honest and state where you are now.

It is not meant to be a scenario to make you depressed but a tool to get you to where you want to be. Only by knowing the present and the future can you plan a route between the two.

If you continue to cover up the flaws you will not be building on a firm foundation. But if you acknowledge the things you need to change you are half way there. When you have found out what you want to change then prioritise that list. Somethings can be changed at the same time as others. Some need to be the only thing you are working on at a time.

As you gain in confidence you can tackle more issues but start small and experience success. This will give you the motivation to carry on.

From now on, what you see is what is and it is no use pretending things are great when they are not. They will only eat away at you and drain your energy. Take a deep breath and make this the day you are honest with yourself and the day your life will change for the better.
