The Path to Success - Always have a project. By Vanessa Spick
Having a project on the go gives you a sense of purpose. These projects can either be business or personal, preferably a mixture of the two. Being able to plan how to achieve a project keeps your mind active and fills you with passion.
Working out the next step in each project and the resources needed for it keeps the mind active and prevents you from having negative thoughts about other people and stops you getting involved in idle gossip which does nothing to help you achieve your goals.
The brain and the body need to be challenged to stop inertia setting in. In your ordinary day to day life you can get very lazy in your thinking with the introduction of ready meals, Sky+ and even washing machine/driers that do everything at the push of a button.
Having projects on the go will help to improve your health as you will not have negative emotions eating away at your thoughts and producing excess bile and acid which in turn will affect your stomach and your eating habits.
You will not get jealous or resent other people and their possessions and achievements as you will be busy concentrating on your on life and building up achievements of your own. If you have time on your hands you could imagine slights that have been made against you and start plotting revenge. These are not the sort of projects you need to be involved in.
It is important that the projects you have are a mixture of business and pleasure to ensure success. That way you get a work life balance and always have joy in both areas of your life. Having joy fills you with energy.
Some projects may involve team work. Bouncing ideas off others and deciding who the best person for the job is is bound to create a certain buzz. Deadlines help to add urgency to a project but ideally it will not add stress to your life.
If you have a project that you carry out on your own you can take things easy, do jobs your way and decide exactly when and for how long you will spend on a task. Sometimes it is best to go with the flow and complete tasks towards your goal when you have time even if it is only five or ten minutes.
If this is your way of working then it is important to have a list of the tasks that need to be done and if possible how long each task will take. As each task is completed they can be crossed off the list and progress can be seen to be made.
If the project is a team effort then it will be necessary to have a more detailed action plan listing who is responsible for each task and when it needs to be completed by. This way you will not be hanging around for others to complete their work and there will be less opportunity for resentment.
